SB 206 ‘Hearing Aid Coverage for Children Act’

Voted on Monday March 20, 2017

Michael Caldwell's thoughts

This program under the SHBP was expected to cost roughly $850,000 to cover and ended up costing less than $50,000. It would mandate insurers cover hearing aids for infants and children during their developmental years. It costs on average $800,0000 for a child who does not receive a hearing aide as an infant to receive special education through our K12 system. This program is estimated to cost $0.03 (CENTS) per insurance plan per month, and avoids an $850,000 per student cost.
