HB 280 Firearms; license holders; carrying and possession of certain weapons in certain buildings or real property owned or leased to public institutions of postsecondary education; authorize

Voted on Friday March 3, 2017

Michael Caldwell's thoughts

This legislation is nearly identical to HB 859 the campus carry legislation from 2016 that was vetoed by the Governor. Governor Deal argued that his veto was based on the legislature not exempting preK classrooms on campuses, so this bill provides for those exemptions and seeks to send campus carry back to the Governor's Desk.
