HB 157 Medical advertising; certain certifying organizations; revise certain criteria

Voted on Friday February 24, 2017

Michael Caldwell's thoughts

In House Bill 1043 language was added to the code last year requiring that for a physician to claim they are "Board Certified" in Georgia that their certification would have to come from the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association. It was originally carried by Rep. Betty Price as HB 826 and passed (which I voted for), but has had negative effect on rural doctors who are certified through alternative Boards.
