Voted on Wednesday March 22, 2017

Michael Caldwell's thoughts

Description from original vote earlier this year for this year's budget.

This is the House's proposed full year FY2018 Annual Budget. It is comprised of $24.997 Billion in state revenues. It comprises a $1.25 billion (5.3%) over the FY 2017 original budget (not the amended, which accounts for nearly half of that growth- meaning only 2.68%, $651.8 million is actually growth from FY 2017 to FY 2018).

This budget includes a 2% merit raise for teachers (placed into the salary schedule), a 20% raise for state law enforcement, a raise in foster parent per diem by 57% (dramatically needed if you speak to *any* foster parent), and an additional $600k appropriation to GBI to finally get the remaining backlog of untested rape kits tested and processed.
